Chicago

The elms in Grant park in Downtown Chicago were amongst the first in the United States to be included in a thorough yearly injection cycle. Since 1999 about 800 elms on this location of great importance are being injected every year. The injections are done by professional arborists. Losses since the beginning have been limited to a few trees per year (+/- 0.25% per year), whereas in the Chicagoland area the average Dutch elm disease infection rates are as high as 4 to 14% per year.
